NORTH KOREA A THREAT OR NOT?
Info Post
These days I believe international relationships has become, and is becoming a concern is is more likely going to effect people on an individual sense. When it comes to international affairs I'll be the first one to admit guilt to having the "I don't care because it won't affect me" attitude, but I feel that altitude needs to be placed in history. Specifically now with North Korea's threat of nuclear attack it begs the question to what is bluff, what is true intentions and desire, and what is the ability for them to make good on a promise. To me, it also questions what defensive or offensive force would other countries take when faced with this threat, which we seem to be. I didn't live through the cold war era, but I've certainly read a lot about it, and watched a lot of documentaries to see that the mental state then could very easily be replicated with such threats of nuclear attack. I'm not an expert in politics, and never will claim to, but I am a person who has concern for my well being so pays close attention to political events that may threaten me. I consider myself someone with an armature political opinion, but armature, being on the ground level has advantages over someone sucked into an issue where not only it is a concern, but it is also a responsibility to make a decision for the greater good. I think, simply put, its time to be prepared. I'm not suggestion that everyone runs out, builds a bunker and stocks it with enough supplies for a year, but I am suggestion that people pay extra close attention to these concerns both nationally and internationally. Mass hysteria is formed from a lack of knowledge and panic within a population. If people are educated and knowledgeable about what is really happening it will enable us to have a more organized, well behaved country. It's also the Government's responsibility to provide information to give the population the tools to educated themselves. Understand that civilians will never know all the information and that's probably a good thing. To answer the question of "Is North Korea a real threat" I believe the answer is "YES" Its already been announced that they have the capacity and materials for nuclear weapons. They have demonstrated the ability to utilize them with tests. The threats they have made shows a desire and even though willingness could be argued as a bluff, I think it should be taken seriously. The only question to ask is if they have the ability to deliver a weapon at a planned target, or even just to lob one at any location within a country. If then, the only question would be if they have ability to make the distance. Its a dangerous game because just as lethal as an offensive attack the response from the U.S. would be exponentially more devastating and with that, we have plunged into a nuclear war, which quit possibly could be of no return.
